HINAKO YUKIMOTO
hinako yukimoto is a Japanese contemporary dancer, creator, and cross-disciplinary artist based in the Netherlands.
At the age of 16, she moved to the Netherlands alone and enrolled at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Her greatest challenge at that time was not dance itself, but understanding people, language, and culture. She absorbed everything like a sponge, fearlessly diving into the unknown. That open and curious self still lives within her today, supporting her ability to embrace change, adapt, and transform.
Over time, however, she began to question this “flexible self.” Shaping herself according to situations and people sometimes made her wonder, Who am I, really? Within her, two different sensibilities coexist—one rooted in Japan, the other nurtured in Europe—and she moves between them in daily life. She now embraces this fluctuation not as uncertainty, but as the joy of new possibilities emerging.
In her final year of study, Hinako completed an internship at Conny Janssen Danst. In 2025, she took part in residencies at Korzo Theater and Conny Janssen Danst, where she co-created the duo work Ayatori with Charlotte Puebla—an installation-style dance performance using threads to explore human connection. She has also appeared in commercial work as a dancer and actor, and continues to expand the possibilities of bodily expression through collaborations with musicians, filmmakers, and other artists across disciplines.
